The day I fell in love with Camden Town

Having explored West London the previous day, I wasn’t quite ready for the bustling vibrancy that is Camden town. Walking out of Camden underground I was hit with the feeling of sheer raw activity.  The hustle and bustle which at times can make me feel a bit uncomfortable, instead immediately drew me in, reminiscent of the way a chocoholic is drawn to the chocolate aisle in a supermarket.
The feeling of sensual euphoria on your senses is one that leaves you stunned. It was then that my soul connected with this town. I turned round to my cousin a resident of London and as I began to utter the words ‘I could live here’ she interjected to say ‘I knew you would say that.’
Our adventure began as usual with some high street and vintage shopping, then on to the well-known Kerb street food market at Camden Lock. For those of you that know me, you’ll know that I love everything and anything about food, eating it, cooking it as well as studying it. It plays a large role in my life, therefore whenever I get the chance to experience new cuisine I’m there with open hands and salivating mouth.
Classed as being the best street food oasis in London, delivering culinary delights from 34 street food traders, 7 days a week, it is a must go to if looking to excite your palate. As I crossed over the bridge the music, smells and visions had me entranced. To the left of the bridge, punks gathered in the glorious sunshine overlooking barges transporting tourists along the lock to view the sights.
There were swaths of people ruminating around different stalls deciding on what delight to consume or at benches and tables eating and chatting. The atmosphere was electric. Each stall had its own vibe with music, chat and intoxicating smells of various spices.  It was a global street food gathering of culinary tastes for all, there was truly something for everyone.
The stalls that I managed to visit were the Cheese Wheel, Katsu House Japanese Kitchen (reviewed in a separate blog), Oli Baba’s deep fried Halloumi and Taiwanese Bing Dang. That was all the food my stomach could muster for the day. After our feasting we trundled off to explore the vast spread of the Camden market.
Our next adventure was to pursue the purchase of the infamous bubble tea, which I had been ranting on about. My bubble tea adventure started in Camden at Mooboo.
Overall I could’ve quite easily spent a couple of weeks in Camden if given the opportunity as there is so much to explore, in relation to shopping, food and music. Would I return?  A big FAT YES! How long for? For ever if I could. Will I be rating Camden? No because it would be an insult I feel to put this awesome place in a category with anywhere else.

Camden how I love you. #kerbcamden #camdenlock #veggiesandvibez #rokitvintag
